About Talatala Le Ta‘ui
“O le malamalama o se malosi‘aga.”

Knowledge is power. Knowledge is for the people.

Talatala Le Ta‘ui is a local news and interview platform focused on American Samoa — bringing long-form conversations, public-interest reporting, civic information, and community voices directly to the people.

Our Mission

Real questions. Real conversations. Real public information.

Talatala Le Ta‘ui exists to bring knowledge to the people through honest interviews, local reporting, civic information, and direct conversations with the leaders and communities shaping American Samoa.

We are a growing local media program focused on American Samoa, Samoa, and the wider Samoan community. We offer something rare in the local media environment: long-form interviews with leaders, public officials, community members, and people directly connected to important issues.

What makes Talatala Le Ta‘ui different is its direct but genuine approach. We ask difficult questions — not to attack, embarrass, or push a political agenda, but in the spirit of public understanding. The goal is to bring information, clarity, and knowledge to the people.

Editorial Principles

How we work

Independent

Talatala Le Ta'ui is editorially independent. We do not represent any party, candidate, or government office. Our interviews and reporting are guided by public interest, not political agenda.

Direct, not aggressive

We ask difficult questions in the spirit of public understanding. We do not ask questions to attack, embarrass, or score political points. We respect every guest who agrees to sit down with us.

Transparent corrections

When we get something wrong, we say so — clearly and visibly on the relevant article or interview page. Significant updates are flagged with the date and reason for the correction.

Source protection

Anonymous tip submissions are stored securely and visible only to authorized editors. We never share, sell, or expose tip submissions to third parties. Optional contact information is just that — optional.

Long-form by default

We do not chase soundbites. Most of our interviews run forty minutes to over an hour. We believe public understanding deserves time, and that real conversation is rarely fast.

Locally grounded

Our editorial focus is approximately 90% American Samoa and 10% Samoa. We cover the territory's villages, districts, and people on their own terms — not through outside frames.
